Challenge to you: Rebound this shot with a screenshot of your first portfolio site. And don't show me version 3. Show me your very first porfolio site.
This is a design i did in the year 2000 :D For realz.
Small text was the THANG back then (some of you will know what i mean, probably not many though!)
This was done just for fun.. personal deal-e-o.
The bummer is, my hard drive crashed back in like 2003 or 2004... and back then i never had backups :( So all that precious early work (1996 and beyond) is LOST! I still have the hard drive, hopefully one day there will be a way to get the data off it.
I do have a couple pieces that managed to survive (like this one) because they were on a CD... i think.
This one was hilarious!! I did it in a design class at college. My prof was like ... "oh, so i see you mis-spelled 'Emergency' on purpose to really drive home your point" .. i was like... "uhhh... uh.. ya. exactly!" LULZ!
Obviously i couldn't spell.. but art people bein' the way they are, all artsy fartsy, thought it was genius. HAHA!
But the coo thing bout this one: it was the VERY first ever in history 'graphic design' piece accepted into the college's art gallery. Which was rad.

Here's a shot of my first portfolio site from about 2005. It was entirely in Flash (oi vei) and that little lamp could be switched on or off. Totally ridiculous. In my defense, I'd never really made a site before this.
This was a blog I designed for myself back in... let me see... probably October of 2009. It was pretty much my first full-fledged design endeavor. Not bad if I do say so myself.
One of my first client sites, for the Premier of Manitoba. (that's like a Governor) Circa 1999.
Oh, and there was a scandal with some of the Youth Links that when you followed a link from this site, to another site, to another site, you reached some mildly offensive content.
So the press went and dubbed it the "Premier's Pipeline to Porn".
True story.
Unfortunately, the only traces of my old site I had left was just the splash page. This was the hover state. Shiver7 was a tutorial site back when Deskmod was all the rage. They had this amazing tutorial about making a symmetrical logo. I was so proud of myself. Also, bitmap fonts everywhere.
My very first portfolio website was created entirely in Flash, took ages to load, and was a horrible to navigate. I made it for a class project in 2008, and I thankfully had enough sense to change it before too long.

Seems like I know where these illustrations are coming from ;) http://beanstalkapp.com/ was launched early in 2007 with different design but the same pattern.
To be honest, I forgot about this site until I saw Vin's post. I made it while I was still a student. You can check out the whole, terrible thing here: http://v1.andrewpautler.com. Oh yeah, it's flash.
My first portfolio site was over the top, a pain in the ass to update, and for some reason conceptually centered around booze. But it'll always have a special place in my heart. :) You can check it out here.
My first attempt at starting a web design firm when I was 19 or 20. Sadly, this was only 7-8 years ago, I'm only 27. EEK!
The funny part is, this website is still alive even though the company has been defunct for years and years. I even wrote all the copy and am particularly proud of the FAQ section, which was written before having ever receiving a "question" from a prospective client.
