Here's the finished up version of the earlier sketch - with the full version attached.
I'm getting a feeling of Super 8 from this.

Illo looks sick!!!
Beautiful Glenn, simply beautiful!
Looks ridiculously great man, just not really feeling the lens flare though.
Actually really digging the lens flare. The sky is great, too.
Dude this got f'ing GNAR!
Dang... secrets, something breaking out, octagons, lens flares... this is something JJ Abrams would be proud of.
Definitely one of your best cd covers!
OK seriously, how the hell?
this is cool, but the lens flares have too much presence. and are taking away from the overall comp. There are a lot of competing textures too! overall I think it's rad but maybe you should tone it down a bit and figure out what your first read is?
Oh, and awesome logo on the doors.
Wow, this came quite a way. Nice work!
EFFF! This is sick. Only suggestion would be tone down the lens flare. Either way this is bad f'n a!
This out of control. I'm flagging this for being to awesome.
I see what everyone says about the lens flare. It felt a bit empty without something there, maybe I just need to balance it in more.
Sadly, doesn't appear as though the client likes it anyways, so, back to drawing board.
THIS. WAS. AMAZING.
keep the "lens flare" brings out both of the "reality" of it, as well as exaggerate it in the style you use.
You're crazy!! Nice work!
Dude, your client is wrong. You can tell him we said so.
Wow, love the atmosphere on this!
love those flares ;)
thanks you guys! Ended up getting it approved (phew), some colour changes and some extra lighting details.
oh, this was the final - http://thefoxandking.com/images/mth_cover2.jpg
Nice compromise, looks great! Thank god it didn't go to waste.
