We just released our new iPhone app "Yearly"! A birthday/anniversary reminder app.
We thought it would be a cool idea to add the possibility to swipe on a row to show buttons for contacting the person and the swipe would kind of tear off the paper and show the underlying wood :)

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to the concept of the slide across and it tears to reveal the means of contact controls. I was linked to this from Sandro's shot: http://dribbble.com/shots/307382-Yearly-for-iPhone where it shows a closer view of the part I was referring to in particular. Thanks for the link. The video looks good.

Love the UI, but you should have a better "No Birthdays" state. I was a bit surprised to launch the app and see it completely blank.

I expected that the app would get birthdays using Facebook Connect. Didn't realize at first that the birthdays were being pulled from Address Book (and I have no birthdays listed in there).

So some hint as to why it's empty would be great. Otherwise, nice looking app!

One of the most intuitive custom UI's I've seen. And beautiful to boot. Well done, and congratulations on your launch. (my app is currently waiting for review so I know this is an exciting time)

I love this, i actually came up with the exact same idea (tearing the paper to reveal controls underneath) a few weeks ago, this is amazing.

don't know if i'm being captain obvious here, but if it wasn't for the explanation i'd have never guessed the swipe thing, i hope you added a tap action to tear the paper off too. :)

@Juan Gomez There's a little help section in the app which explains the swipe thing. But the app is 100% usable without the swipe. The swipe gesture is just a shortcut :)
