Some progress on the Tumblr theme. Background flowery pattern doesn't feel 100% yet - and need to work on the colour as well. Christo helped out with the pattern.
How do you feel about Mono-spaced fonts for body copy?
Mono-spaced fonts: I think they work great and you should use them!
Background pattern: My suggestion is to try adding a subtle grain texture that would make the rest of the solid elements (logo, flowers, content) stand out more.
I hope that helps. Feel free to give it a try and see how it looks, it will only take a couple of minutes :)
Hi Regina, This coming along nicely. I'm not a fan of mono-spaced type for body copy, and since this will be a theme that might be something that would turn people away.
Also, the zig-zag line underneath the headline feels a bit harsh to me. Maybe a different color, or a wave instead?
The designery bits look great Regina!lace edge and patterns are very cool, nice modern/vintage mix. agree that the mono type doesn't really work, sure you'll come up with something nice tho!
Regina, you never fail to blow me away with your designs, the colours here are just astounding, such a beautiful palette.
I think the body copy could *potentially* suffer in the monospace font if it was a long piece. I'd maybe make every first paragraph a monospace and try a similar sans or serif for the rest of it.
An example would be, setting the first paragraph in Droid Sans Mono and setting the remaining copy in Droid Sans or Droid Serif.
That way, the monospace would look awesome for things like quotes or tweets (if the theme has options for stuff like that) and the longer posts would be quite interesting typographically.
Having said that, I really like monospaced fonts, as someone who spends most of their time in a code editor, it makes me feel right at home :)
By the way, with the way that we engineer all the themes everyone had full control to change up the fonts to their liking with built in Typekit support.

Thanks Inka, Marko and Claudiu.
I think the mono spaced font I used here is actually very legible and fit with the design, but would love your thoughts on it.
Tried the subtle grain quickly and I think it might just add what I feel it's lacking - thanks Claudiu.

Going to say no on the monospaced type. You can find something that fits much better. Not sure what it is, but there's something.

Looks great, keep that monospace!

You could always incorporate the feature that people can choose between 2 or 3 fonts for their body copy.
In that case people who like monospace can keep it and the ones who don't will use a different font.
The color scheme is awesome, love the look and feel of it!

Stick with the monospace font for the default!
