yeah Jake, that is the bugs of the effect, however this bug has 2 good points:
- it makes it look more like a real wood
- on the real AppStore/iTunes icon size it looks better than correct icon, just because of resampling hard edges when downsizing.
Colors look great! I'd wonder if instead of the harsh whit for your highlight on the recycle if a bright color of the wood would help. Though, this is pretty close up. I'm sure the highlight helps on a smaller scale. Well done!
thanks George! Yup, this icon has many elements that can improved or polished. But, our budget is always $199 for the 512x512 icon and these details are invisible on the final product - downscaled iTunes/AppStore icon so there is nothing to worry about. Anyway, many thanks for your suggestions.
