Financial advisory company. I designed a shield (symbolizing trust, safety) using the initials "G" and "I". Gold symbolizes wealth and emphasizes the financial factor.
Thank you guys for your honest feedback. Fortunately for me and my client it's only the color that is in common with the Guinness logo. Because our concept is clear (explained above) and unique, totally created according to clients feedback (every element has its special meaning). When he is happy with it I'm happy too.
I thought a bit about an example: Let's say you have a weekend on the lake, but when you arrive there you see the water, the people, the sand and it reminds you about the summers you spent at the sea. You see, there are common elements: water, people, sand, but you are still in another place which has his own special features: maybe it's close to your home, you can go with all your friends and family, there are no huge waves and so on. Now I'll get back to our job as designers.
As designers we have to use common elements colors (for a green company we will never use purple or other colors that distort the message), fonts sometimes even shapes (squares, circles ...). Our job is to combine them so they have a meaning for our client and for his clients.
This is my personal opinion. I may be right or wrong. I want to hear also what you think.
that shield is AMAZING. I think its absolutely perfect. I think its only vaguely like Guiness. I didn't see it at first and it didn't remind me, but I could see where that would come from. I think its definitely far enough away to stay outta trouble. Looks great, and awesome debut, Adrian
I would soften up the shadow from the "i". It seems like its floating right now. Maybe try a darker shade of the gold for the shadow instead on the harsh black. This way it would have a more connected feeling between the type and shield.

I agree, looks a lot like the Guinness logo. I do like the shield symbol though. Well done.

Not hating, but I think it's just too much like Guiness, even the colors are so darn close.
