Slake Café logotype
[L] The beautiful script California Script* by sign-painting legend Jerry Berg was released by Carmel Type Co. earlier this year. It was automatically one of those fonts I bookmarked for future use. Lo and behold a rebrand of Slake Café in Austin was a perfect fit.
[R] Using the proportions of the script, it was redrawn in Illustrator using the Width Tool to open the counters to make the lowercase a and e a little more legible at small sizes. Even though the actual font was not used for production, we purchased it to support the people involved in its creation. When you rip off fonts, you’re ripping off your own brothers & sisters in the game. Do the right thing and purchase your fonts legally, y’all.
