    I do kind of care, but perhaps some type of filter or tabbed UI in the activity area will stop the overload of information.

    EDIT: Either that or build in an actual 'reply' feature for the comments that you'll get a notification about, not every comment.

    Tabbed would be great. If it was a "reply" to me, it would be different, but it's EVERYONE who comments after you comment. Why do we need to see every single comment? Drives me mad! Ha ha.

    I get that excessive notifications are annoying. But what about when you comment on something, and want to be reminded to go back to see what someone said about your comments?

    Why not have a switch that lets you turn comment following on and off per shot.
