Been working a lot lately on the graph not really visible at right, but I spruced up the info display shown here today by changing the colors (still need work) in the pie chart, and changing the large number type to Univers UltraCondensed. A little worried about three typefaces appearing at once, (two for numbers of different sizes), but I think I can make it work.

Also, I'd prefer the pie chart were not 3D, but it's our style, and we have an AS3 class ready to build them, so...

Very cool, love the spending breakdowns. (Showing the cost of healthcare compared to defense is quite the reveal.)

27% effective tax rate on 50k of income? Is this the fate of the self-employed? Ouch.

What's most revealing in the piece (and will soon be shown in this area) is a sparkline of the effective tax rate over time—tax rates were _much_ higher for the rich between the 40s and 70s, to the tune of 90+% in some cases.

We're factoring in standard deductions, social security and medicare to this yet, so the numbers may change slightly, and there's more graphical goodness to come to this...

This is terrific. Love well-presented bulks of information.

The taxes piece has finally published. We ended up with a sparkline of the tax rate in lieu of the pie chart as the stacked time series chart on the graph addresses the budget's breakdown.

I kind of don't feel like doing my taxes this year now, since I basically just did everyone's for the past 70 years.
