Nous Sommes Toujours

It rained. A lot. Like, a lot, a lot. Cajun culture has always been synonymous with struggle. Overcoming adversity is in our DNA. If you listen to almost any traditional Cajun French song, even the most joyous dance numbers will include some reference to sorrow, loss, death. And though we may sweat and scrape and ache and ache, we endure. We do what we can, with what we have, because we must. For over 250 years we have called the Acadiana region of southern Louisiana our home. Her fertile soil gives us life and cradles us in death. We will survive this, as we have survived countless hardships past. Nous sommes toujours. We are forever.
