   I took a short break from code today and this came out. Was one of those times where every mouse movement you make is the right one :)
   My son will be famous! This is the app icon for Keepsakes... which is an app built on Dialoggs (first one)!

   It's 100% vector in Photoshop.. so it scales :) It's just shapes and layer styles, all of it.

   Love it, but like I said on Twitter, I think the bottom right binding looks a bit off. The shadow and radius on the inner of the binding looks a bit too round. Maybe add a bit of shadow onto the paper for some added dimension.

    Looks great. Have you tried rotating the book by the traditional app icon -10°?

    Also, I believe that inserting your app's name into its icon is discouraged in Apple's Icon Design Guidelines.

    rotating it? what do u mean?

    is it also discouraged for iOS apps? i would think not, cuz a lot of icons have the name in it (netflix, att, urban spoon, imdb, etc)

    @Drew According to Apple's design guidelines application icons are slightly rotated, compared to utility icons which are head on. I think the icon looks great without the rotation, in it's current form it falls under the "three-dimensional object" category :)

    @David In Icon Resource Sebastian says the rotation is -9°.

    Looks good. One issue—that type of binding doesn't typically have its pages go all they way to the spine.

    It usually has a dip or gap on the top and bottom (from this view) indicating grooves running the length of the spine on the front and back. It also usually shows some of the binding thread along the inside of the spine.

    Have you thought about giving it a hidden spiral binding like a journal or scrapbook? That might be more apropo for the context.
