Question: would it not make more sense for .pendulum .blip - to have the animation direction set to alternate?
So the shine goes up and comes down. This would be more realistic I think.

@Dan ah thats interesting. I think that part was originally supposed to be some sort of energy pulse converted from the momentum of the pendulum. So as it swings it transfers it to the core and powers the whole thing...
Though you're right, on alternate a similar technique could be used to make a pretty convincing shine, I'll have to try that sometime.
