I've been debating seeing if I could get something like what I've mocked up here working with YouTube's Chromeless API. I've got my doubts, but I like the design thus far and am certainly open to other options as far as implementing it, though I realize I may have to make some compromises.

I'd definitely appreciate some feedback on the design as it stands now though.

Some of the glyphs are from Drew Wilson's Pictos.

The example shot is from Blitzen Trapper's video for Love the Way You Walk Away off their new album (which you should buy, because it's amazing). Also, if that example shot is inappropriate or unacceptable for whatever reason, feel free to yell at me and I'll replace the shot.

this ui would look amazing as a flash player. the buttons are similar to tweetbot's app for iPhone/iTouch and I LOVE those gradients

@Jake thanks! I'll have to explore that option a bit and see what I can turn up, I think that'd be really cool. :)

This looks really good; the only thing I can see to improve is that the time slider circle doesn't appear as crisp as the rest of the icons. Agreed with Jake, this would look really good as a Flash player, but why stick with Flash when you can do the same thing with HTML5 video?

@Ben thanks! I'll have to take a look at the scrubber and see if I can get that sorted out.

I think HTML5 while falling back to Flash where needed could be cool, but we'll see. :)

Edit: I guess the upshot at this point is that it will work with the YouTube API, just not exactly as designed, so I may implement that for the blog on the update to my site I've got in the works and explore other options down the road.
