Took Joshua Lane's suggestion from my last shot and lost the header in between the two main levels of nav. Definitely like this better. Thanks, Josh!
I'm not satisfied at all with the "log out" icon, and I want to add some styling to the tabs ("Recent", "During your checkins," etc.), but this is definitely getting there...
I didn't realize there was a log out icon there at first; thought it was a check in icon. So, what about adding it to the preference/setting drip down? (If that is a drop down)
This is looking sharp, Jeff. Curious though if the rounded subnav button set has a large enough hit state on each button for physical interaction—they seem a little small on a desktop.
@Kevin: It's not a drop down, it just opens the settings area.
@William: I've had about 30 people playing the game for the past month or so with no complaints about that, but it's definitely worth checking. it seems okay to me in real-world use, but it might not hurt to make 'em a little taller. Thanks for the kind words and suggestion, man!
excited to use this app. out of context hard to give thoughts on this piece - was wondering what happened to the leaderboard, venue and other info on your previous dribbbles.
Jeff, this looks awesome! For all the different navigation at the top, it doesn't look convoluted at all. Nice work. Also, gotta disagree with William... I think the rounded nav bar is perfectly sized for the iPhone.
For the logout icon, you might draw inspiration from this one. I'm sure you're trying to keep it very simple, but perhaps having the arrow look like it's disappearing behind an open door would better convey the idea of "logging out."

If anything, I think the arrow should be smaller in proportion to the door. Maybe a 3-5 pixel gap above and below it. Just my $0.02. :D

Marc-
That stuff's all still there, this is just a different view (that's under Home, this is Performances). :)

I like @Kevin observation. Perhaps that should be a check in button. And I know there isn't a footer...perhaps that's where the log out could go...
