    I listened to some feedback on my first attempt and modified it a bit and this is what I came up with.

    It's looking good. My only suggestions would be to lessen the overall height of the bottom piece and make the map pin pop more... maybe by lessening the amount of light rays towards the top.

    Actually, looking at it further I almost want to see what it looks like if the map portion didn't have rounded corners on top but when straight off the edges.

    Much better! This is beautiful. You did the glow really well. Only issues I see are that the slit in the ground could be tapered at the edges somehow. Also, you could consider watering down the perspective a bit, if you see fit. A perspectived iPhone icon rarely seems in place.
