First prototype- very cool. I've got another one about twice the size coming in the mail now.

    Haha awesome!

We all love making stuff digitally but nothing is like printing something out or getting it right in your hands like this. :)

@Trent The plan is to make a mold and produce resin casts... I'll keep you posted!

Thanks people! It's like hard white plastic- The casts will be colored resin hopefully.

Very cool. I talked to a local place about something similar at one point - sounds like a good (and fairly inexpensive) way to do prototypes for just about any physical object as long as you can get reasonably good 3D CAD drawings to work from.

    Also: do want!

How awesome would it be to have a long extruded tube of this? An ampersand bat that you could slice-off and give to friends or bake as cookies.

    It's a sweet typographic 3D object. I like it.

... But ... What is it for? Does it do something?

Yes! Shapeways rocks- how do you like there service? I haven't tried using it yet but hope to soon.

Awesome, Kyle. This is inspiring me to do something in 3D.

Why are some of you inquiring about its purpose? I think it's quite clear that it is just a small art object. When in a gallery, do you ask what each painting/sculpture is for?

That said, Kyle, if you can figure out how to make this a bottle opener… golden.

Now that Jesse mentioned it, I want some white chocolate ampersands...
