After a terrible accident involving a Heidelberg Letterpress, leaving his face (and mind) warped forever, friendly alphabetarian, Francis Griffo, donned the sword and shield and now leaves a trail of destruction behind wherever he goes. Many a time a poor tradesman will return to his village, only to see a ellipsis in its place.
But perhaps there is method to his madness? A misunderstood genius, he roams the corners of the world in search for his beloved "Marian" - an elusive transitional typeface that most people think is a myth. Regardless, he searches on, looking forward to the day that he can place a ring on her finger and an ampersand between them.
However, it is his blind devotion to her that throws him into murderous rages, and with this villain casting a drop shadow over all that is good, everyone can agree that the world would be a better place sans Serif of Nottingham.
Thanks Bobby! Love the contest and couldn't help but be tempted to make a villain. A typographic one at that.
Side note: only after I had finished the piece (I vowed to not touch them up in Photoshop except for color correction) did I realize that his "lowercase t dagger" could have been an actual footnote dagger - but then again, they don't have serifs, so I guess it worked out.
