Wee portraits for the See, Hear, Read section of Toronto Life Mag. These had to be black & white so it was a nice excuse to work with some ink washes and loose brush work. Some process on my blog: http://jacquioakley.com/toronto-life-portraits

Thanks Kurtis, Curtis, Darren & John! Darren, it's so hard to get that balance since it's really easy to over-do work with ink. I'm usually terrible wanting to go full out on detail, but I'm trying to re-train myself and keep that spontaneity. I just keep yelling at myself while working.... which causes it's own problems. People are starting to wonder about me.

I love illustrated portraits (rather than photographs) for magazines and yours are especially cool! Thanks for posting process pics on your blog, I always enjoy looking at them. :)

Wow - these are great and of course, I love the process! The final pieces look absolutely terrific in the magazine. (also chuckling at the thought of you yelling at yourself while working)

Thanks Guys! Veronica, glad you like the process. I really enjoyed working on those. Claire, it is way too often that I talk to myself while working. It's one of the many hazards of freelance.
