@Matthew: I agree. Might toss it completely. Agree with Faruk that it works great on his because it's darker. It was there primarily as a talking point for box-shadow, but not necessary.
@Tyler: Good point there, sir. I'm going to be demonstrating using opactiy on a single icon to get more mileage out of it, but just changed the "items" text to dark to match the icon and it works better I think.
