I'd grab a real book, some papers, and a business/credit card and look at it closely. Definitely some perspective problems here, but they're not too hard to fix if you have a model.
Color schemes you have chosen are really suiting on individual elements, like colors on the index strips on the left. The brown and black on the book. Slate grey / Silver on the credit card. But on the whole, the coherence is lost. The colors seem as busy as the number of objects in the icon.
But nevertheless, a really nice icon for the limited time frame.
Smooth and slick at first sight! Haha, then looking at it more, the perspective is odd, and the placement of the object is a little odd too. Like the vibe.

Made a quick [1.5h] icon for my projects folder, playing with color schemes and some new shading styles.
Haven't done the smaller sizes yet, want to figure out what's wrong with the business card first :)

Jap! Nice one!
The only thing is 'some' problems with the perspective. Would love to see the next version …
