From a UX point of view it is I think a little bit distracting as this way you don't tell the user what is that arrow about. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, as it is incredibly nice, but I do say that it popped up a question mark in my head before I clicked on the drop down arrow. Otherwise it's a fantastic solution... triggers a lot of thoughts. I think your idea can be implemented wonderfully by showing the selected categories when the filter panel closes. Hmmm... I'll have a think about it! Hats off mate!
@Aaron Yes you're absolutly right Aaron!
In real it's an extension for Joomla and with the category chooser you can choose the type of the search result. I mean in this CMS you can implement a ton of plugins and with these you can easily select the search result. Some example:
- we support a lot of webshop (VirtueMart, RedShop, Tienda etc...)
- default Joomla contents
- plenty of different components
- blog engines and so on...
So I have to add a function and this was the easieset way, but in the next version I will implement it a bit clearly. And thanks for sharing your idea. :)
