The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I'm currently enrolled in a Publication class this Fall -- we're doing a lot of designs for print, obviously. This is a rough draft of a concept for our first assignment -- a dust jacket. I'm choosing to do a concept cover for Larssons "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". This is my first concept for the front cover and overall texture of the cover. I don't really like it much anymore...feels like too much of an obvious interpretation, or maybe a book for something ekse...others to come.
