Still need to rework header, finish contact form and style the endless views involved in the forum.
I'm also deciding on additional content for the intro view...there is more bio copy and I suppose I could pull that page, but bombarding the viewer with text upon first viewing the site seems unnecessary. Instead, I'm looking at perhaps including references to other sections that focus on specific areas.
Added a larger preview as an attachment and here (if the attachment gets resized): http://eldt.me/Z22i
I'm not a fan of mixing the sans-serif with the serif, and for me the black intro box looks very out of place; why is it not like the other dark grey/black gradients?
But the rest looks great, looking forward to the final site. :-)
I was trying to balance the serif/sans-serif for different uses...IE serif as body copy and sans as display info like the tooltip and menus if that makes sense?
As for the body header, those headers are used for the inside content sections as well as blog entry headers, so repeating the black gradient header for each blog entry seemed a bit excessive.
I can always overload that view in the CMS though and have just the black header at the top of the pages and then restyle the headers further down in the body. :)
Perhaps I didn't word that quite right. Serif/sans combination can work well, it's just that I don't think it works well here. That may be because you've used quite a few different styles, it looks fairly busy.
Another thing to try might be to keep the style of that body header but remove the margin around it so it has the full width of the box, so it is more consistent with the rest of the headers there. :-)
With respect to the font, that's certainly fair. I think that, as I refine things, I'll be eliminating styling and size variations for the sake of consistency.
Editing the header style would be pretty easy too, though I was debating altering the style of the main content area altogether. I feel that a different approach would differentiate it from the sidebar better, but I'm not sure the loss in consistency is worth it.
