Turned a corner tonight with choosing a beautiful new typeface. Already, using it makes me feel like the site is lighter, easier to digest, less bloated and prettier :)

Also improved on the layout a little bit - still needs a lot more fleshing out but getting there now :)

I don't think the pink and red are working well together - kind of clashy. Nice start though :)

I agree with Jon. Too much of the red/pink. It can be overbearing and clashy. I suggest a white for the main BG, which keeping red for the header and accents.

Why don't you go white for the main content area.

Hey Rachel, what about trying white for the main copy with a slight text shadow? Perhaps using the #552730 or #CC3845 as the text shadow colour. :)

Btw, do you do the drawing too?

@Neil - I tried white but it didn't stand out enough, unfortunately!

@Jon @Nick @Tyssul - I've just done a rebound (which I'll post now) that has a much, much lighter pink - I wasn't too keen on ALL white, though this is very close now - and I'm really happy with the difference it's made. :)

Quite a small change compared to the previous shot, but I think it makes the world of difference. Thanks to Jon, Nick and Tyssul for the suggestion :) What does everyone think of the colours now?

I'm thinking of keeping the copy text as black, using red only for emphasis such as with links or blockquotes.

Going to work more on fleshing it out a little and can then hopefully move on to some of the other pages :)

In answer to previous questions, the illustration is actually by the wonderful @DeeAndrews (that's her twitter username). She's a super, super talented fashion illustrator and I'm proud to be able to have her work on my site :)
