I'm thinking about going a lot more minimal on the next version of TFIB. I like the simplicity, but I'm afraid it loses it's character. Thoughts?

But maybe I shouldn't be imparting character onto other's work? Perhaps it should function purely as a showcase?
Art galleries are white for a reason. Looking very nice, and you're definitely headed in the right direction. I'd keep the sidebar on the right though.
Maybe do both? I like the different background every time thing you've got going now, but maybe make it more subtle? I do really like that sort of off-white in the example above. Zack has a point about the gallery thing.
The image on my Chrome's Speed dial still says Kitsune Noir and has the nav on the left, haha. I'm so hipster, I was following TFIB before they were called that.
I'm totally buying this design and the concept behind it. With this gorgeous logo it's hardly impossible to lose attitude. That's a rock.
You've established character of the blog through the content you curate. I wouldn't worry about losing that by revamping towards a more minimal design.
I also agree with what Zack said about art galleries being white for a reason. Keep working on incorporating subtle TFIB "characteristics" into this comp, I really think you are on to something with this.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, glad to hear Im heading in a good direction.
I agree with Tyler's first point. And I think the sidebar works where it is currently on the left, so the content is first.
That fox is smokin'! :D
Make the fox smaller.
I like the simplicity. Puts the focus on the content. Would keep the sidebar on the right tho.
