Experimentation with opacity continues in my brief few minutes of free time. Looking to create a system that, with a simple background image/tile swap, the template's mood will shift instantly. Also heavily considering a switch to Tumblr for full-time blogging (and maybe that's where this design will eventually appear first).
But it'll eventually (likely) be a fluid grid layout, and so I'll have to tackle that when it goes to code (which will probably be the next step soon).
You're using opacity in the background color of page elements, so that swapping the body background image will change the color scheme of the entire page?
Pretty awesome... how are you handling colors for links, browser degradation, etc?
Dan, I use rgba for text color and transparent pngs for bg images to change the entire color scheme on my site. All I have to do is change one background-color declaration and everything cascades pretty nicely. If that helps at all.
@Krystyn: Good question :) I haven't gotten that far yet, but links will be a little challenging, if I'm relying on a color that'll go with what I have planned.
@Joshua: LOVE your site! And wonderful about the bg color trigger. I will have to dig deeper :)
@Luke Not a fan? If I have to configure another blog/cms I might lose my mind. Or at least time I'll never get back again :D

Awesome Dan! Just a thought, what about setting the leading and all elements in general on the vertical grid of the background?

@freshface It sure would be cool :)

Dan, it's the logo.. The logo makes everyone one of your simplebits revisions sexier than the one before. Simply epic.

Thanks much, all.
@Thomas It's still a bit rough/experimental. That said, I've always loved Helvetica, so that might very well remain ;)
