Outside Stroke + Inner Shadow = two borders on one layer.

    I just changed your life.

Oh! Cool! I've always done that with Outer Glow in stead of Inner Shadow. Good thought.

Or for great success, use inner glow, in case you want an inset shadow for some reason.

Inner Shadow + Inner Glow = two borders with sharp corners on one layer. Outside Stroke's roundedness harshes my mellow.

EDIT: or inner stroke, duh. Really you have 3 options here that all do the same thing and can be used together.

Also great for adding highlights to buttons, if that's the sort of thing you're into.

Oh yeah man. How else are you going to get semitransparent inner strokes that don’t screw with layer opacity? Inner glow works nicely as well.

Just a bit to illustrate my comment on Josh's post, as I happened to be using that exact technique on a current mockup.

Seems like most everybody here knows how this goes but I figure a friendly rebound can't hurt.

This nice, sharp double border action is:

    - 1px grey inner stroke
    - 5px 100% choke grey inner glow
    - 4px 100% choke white inner shadow

Also if this is new info to you, you'll also want to turn all the above blending styles to normal, opacity 100%.

    This concludes your Photoshop micro-tutorial-in-a-dribbble.

Seeing the hoops one goes through to make multiple borders in Photoshop saddens me. In Illustrator you could have an infinite number of borders without having to go through flunky settings.

But Illustrator refuses to produce clean 1px lines, which to this date still fails me.
