Which makes me think... OS X should have a short cut that zooms the screen OUT beyond 100%... we can zoom in with Control+scroll, but it would be nice if we could Shift+Control+scroll to zoom way out.
I digress. Retaining the Cederholm 5-column Grid® it seems. Looking forward to it!
Another good thing to do is turning your design upside down. That way you are not "reading the content" so you can easier spot the balance problems in the design.

When getting close to a final design, I like to apply the "squish test". Size a shot down to ~100px wide and see what happens.
Getting close on this minor realign.

That's a great technique. I usually just get up and stand back about 6+ feet from my monitor. I'll be trying this next time.

Hah, this is a great technique. Reminds me of the Kids in the Hall routine, "I squish his head."

Dan, what happens if it passes the 100% test but doesn't pass the squish test? Great idea.

I used to do zoom to 25% in photoshop and squint. This will save me a few forehead wrinkles.

I thought I was the only one that did this. It's nice to know I'm not crazy. :)
