Another product of being stuck inside today. Theres some rough spots for sure, who knows maybe I'll tighten things up and actually do something with this...
Nice - it's amazing how the serifs/slabs give such a different feel to the same letterforms. That Q is brilliant! I also love the high waist line on letters like 'B', 'E', 'F'... gives them a really nice, stylish feel.
Seriously! I had a couple other variations too. Had to force myself to stop...
I fought the Q a lot. In the shot above I borrowed the tail treatment from Michael Spitz's Minor Slab. Thanks Mike! That didnt work for the serif version though...
And I wanted everything to be high waisted, but the P, R, S and Y kinda needed the opposite. I even modified the W so that variation would seem intentional. The damn S broke the mold though. Couldn't get it to look good with a low or high waist...
@Matt Shit! It was there at some point, the V too! I must've deleted them by accident somewhere along the way... Thanks for pointing it out, I would'nt have realized. Total brain fart.
I thinks the variation works really well, it keeps it looking varied and natural. (Ha, I feel incredibly stupid for not even noticed the missing letters - got carried away with the details!)
@John / Sorry mate, didn't mean to sound so dismissive! Knip is a favorite of mine, and has done lots of funky modular type experiments. The slab version above reminded me immediately of his work.
I got an offer to have this programmed so I'm building the rest out... Not exactly happy with the $ yet. And I still have the @ and & to go, but they're being jerks.

This is very similar to René Knip's modular type designs.

@Rumsey Very similar?! I'm just not seeing it... Happy to learn of him though, I was unfamiliar... This was created without reference.
