first look at a very special iPhone app project for a very special client. this will def be one of the sickest surf apps out. just wait till you hear the features :D - more info to come.
I don't mean to be rude Stéphane, but that design is no where near the quality of Dann's design.
From what I can tell, you might also be limited by the device that you are designing for (some sort of samsung hand set), but you should definitely have a few other people check it out, and give you some good feedback. It might really help. Some of the items are looking good though. Good luck!
Looks cool. Will you be showing wind direction, swell direction and period? Does the wave always look that way, or does it change with the conditions (and wave type)?
@Dylan - wind direction, yes. swell direction, yes. maybe not period, well see. very limited to the api used. Andy yes, their will be about 3-4 different wave heights but no wave types. you can get that information in the details section.
This is awesome. I would love to work on something like this.
As @Dylan mentioned, I think swell direction and wind direction is pretty important. And also tidal range — unless that's within the details tab? They are the 3 main factors I look for: Swell, wind, tide.
Some other points that could be included or hopefully provoke some thought:
- Having the visuals reflect the conditions. Wave height, weather, water temp etc. I like the sun...
- Crowd. Hard to do, but would be pretty cool.
- Not too sure how credible the reviews would be. And would they be recent?
- Type of break. Reef, left, point...
- Suggestions on what board to ride
- Where your friends are surfing
looks pretty good. I'd suggest a quick way for people to recommend others to go out besides writing a review. (I know I wouldn't want to write one if it's good haha... but that's also just me) Something similar to a like button– a "get on it" and/or "don't bother" button could work and have the results reset daily. The reviews on surfline are generally worthless from what I've seen, so why not break it down to the basics of whether or not its worth your time to go, and make it easier for users to leave the feedback.

Looking good - I'd add an indicator of the wind direction and maybe alter the shape of the wave to match.
