PROVA: my first attempt at creating a professional typeface. See the attached screenshot for a large, work-in-progress set of characters.
With Prova, I wanted to create hand-drawn condensed letterforms that contained charming inconsistencies and rounded edges to communicate a subtle human quality. Mainly, I made it with the intention of being used in interactive projects as a workhorse illustrated font.
I'm looking at options for releasing it to the public.
Coming soon!
@Rich@Debbie - thanks!
@Seth - the asterisk won't be in the font name. it's here for no real reason. i don't know what i was thinking.
@Anthony - yes sir!
Nice - this is looking really promising. Thinking of your illustrative style of work and hand drawn type, it seems perfect that you'd be working on something like this. The uppercase is my favourite, especially the 'D' and 'M' (oh and I quite like that asterisk!)
@Marko - I'm working hard to release it soon!
@Jesse - Thank you sir!
@Claire - I really appreciate the kind words! I'm starting out with a hand-drawn font, but going to move to cleaner ones next. A lot of my illustrative work is freelance and side projects, so it just made sense to start there. We'll see where it all goes. Designing type is a lot of hard work, as you well know. Cheers!
I'm excited to announce today that Prova, my first typeface, is available for purchase online here. I poured a lot of time, energy, and passion into this typeface, and learned so much so quickly. Now, it's time for a proper nap.
I hope you enjoy using this typeface as much as I enjoyed making it. Special thanks to my wife, who supported me through one too many nights of tedious kerning and tweaking.
Please share any work that you create using Prova by either rebounding this shot (or adding a "prova" tag), or contacting me through my site. Cheers!

It's charming, Gerren. Why the asterisk?

Since you want it to be used in interactive projects are you planning to make this font-face compatible? That would be sweet!
I think you nailed all of your objectives too. Well done!
