@Jack I don’t want to see if a application is running or closed. The problem is that closed apps on OS X can’t receive notifications. When I start my system Mail, iChat, Twitter etc. are starting in the background. Now they can receive updates like Mail, BeejiveIM and the Twitter app on iOS. They are always running and I don’t have to care about it.

I'm not sure from that blog post if you are against or for seeing open apps. Surely knowing which apps are in use IS important?
