Introduction

These are advertisements for different sales events across various automotive dealerships. Throughout the year as seasons change, dealerships cycle through themed ads that correlate with a sales event. Black Friday, Year End, and Winter Holiday sales are some of the most high concentration sales periods a dealership will go through. Because dealtherships often have locations across multiple cities, the need for a city specific logo isn't always necessary in the design of the ad. The priority when making these advertisements is often to create awareness around the sales event that can be thematically replicated in sub ads throughout the season.

When creating these ads, I use Adobe Illustrator to create font styles that speak to the event. I prefer to choose styles that don't obstruct the text itself, but instead ad small visual elements of intrigue. Because I know these ads will be replicated over the weeks or months of a sales event, I pick graphic elements that can be easily modified to fit multiple dimensions, such as rectangular shapes or circles, over stars or larger organic objects. Once I have the text arranged prominently and in a manner that covers the majority of the given dimensions, I go back and ad smaller elements that bring the sales event to life, such as for sale tags, ornaments or speech blurbs. An important component of automotive advertising is high contrast colors that grab attention, thus when picking a palette for these particular kinds of ads, I care less about the harmony of the colors and more about how vibrantly they oppose each other while still achieving a pleasant aesthetic.
