Have spent a good number of hours tweaking the ampersand design for my tattoo. Fortunately/unfortunately, setbacks in funds have allowed me to spend more time honing this design.

I've experimented with a number of style variations, but have settled on the high contrast, solid fill style in the last frame. I need to tweak it some, but I think it's just about there.

thanks for sharing your process all together. this is great to see. the shape of your ampersand is so nice.

as a tattoo ... i think i like the top right design the best though. but i think that's because that fleur de lis i did recently turned out so nice as a tattoo.

@christian I've actually considered the design you did when spacing out the lines on #4. I thought it would look nice and be a really good detail to have the lines in the tattoo. But after further consideration, a few photo mockups and my wife's opinion later I've decided to go with the solid fill for the actual tattoo. I really do like the lined fill as a design in and of itself though. Thanks for your feedback!

I've finally arrived at the final version for my tattoo design. Notice the fixed curvature, consistency in terminal sizes and the newly introduced high contrast in the bottom bowl – more consistent with that of a very early sketch.

I have wanted an ampersand tattoo for quite a while. :) Looks very nice. Means so much more when you design it yourself.
