Gladiators · Board Game · Game & Graphic Design

Gladiators Games, a thrilling card game set in the world of gladiators, is a project that I've been immersed in. Allow me to walk you through the various elements I've navigated while crafting the game.

The Cards

Firstly, let's delve into the cards. Here are the different cards, along with their fronts and backs, as well as their respective effects.

The Colors

Next, the choice of primary colors leaned towards shades of red and sand, reminiscent of blood and the arena floor where gladiators fought.

The Backgrounds

Then, the creation of background illustrations to immerse players in the world of gladiators, featuring various arenas.

The Characters

Then, the characters, including various gladiators such as Murmillo, Thraex, Retiaritus, and Secutor.

Murmillo: Known for their heavy armor and large rectangular shield, Murmillos rely on powerful strikes with their sword to overpower opponents.

Thraex: Equipped with a curved sword and a small shield, Thraex fighters are agile and specialize in quick, evasive movements to outmaneuver adversaries.

Retiaritus: Recognizable by their net and trident, Retiaritus fighters employ swift and strategic maneuvers, aiming to entangle opponents with their net before delivering a fatal blow with the trident.

Secutor: Clad in heavy armor with a helmet featuring a rounded visor, Secutors engage in close combat, utilizing their short sword to strike swiftly and decisively.

The Elements

Various elements will assist in designing the game boards, including token placements, body parts, and distinctive gladiator features. Token placements determine the positioning of gladiator tokens and other vital game information. Body parts define targetable areas, like the head or torso. Distinctive gladiator features, such as weapons and fighting styles, add strategic depth to the game.

The Boards Games

Combining all the work, the culmination is the creation of four game boards depicting the gladiators' arena battles.
