I've recently taken on a new project (designing Treehouse site/app for Carsonified). This is the first draft of the treehouse logo. Might stay the same, might not. :)
Yeah, Treehouse is all about learning... so the droplet of water is like 'knowledge' and the sapling/tree icon is a representation of someone growing with that new knowledge.
I wanted to design a logo that represented what 'Treehouse' is about rather than just create a treehouse icon.
Definitely like the symbol, but not a big fan of the Avant Garde type. I see the point of picking something different to a slab to avoid the whole organic feel, but AG feels pretty industrial and almost retro. Just my cents.
Looking great, Mike :) I like this direction, but at first glance looks like an eco-friendly product of some sort. I agree with Christopher that it'd be cool to see some sort of actual treehouse or makeshift ladder in there. Something more playful? May be too literal, but worth exploring!
I think it looks great, nice over all shape. Perhaps you maybe could try a version where the darker leaf colour was a little lighter (dark green)? it's just very strong in comparison to the other colours used :)
Great start Mike, good to see you back in with the Carsonified crew :) definitely agree re the font, but as this is a first draft I'm looking forward to the magic to come!
Reiterating what everyone has said already, great work!
I think the font works really well. It stands out quite nicely from the design ,but still "feels" like it belongs. Only thing I'd like to see in this is some more detail in the droplet cut-outs (To more closely follow the outline of the leaves).
At first impressions I didn't like it, it looked like a stock icon. But the more I look at it the more it grows on me(no pun intended). Look forward to seeing the final product :)
I wanted to give the logo a type treatment to include 'team' into the logo. When I spoke to Ryan at FOWA about Treehouse, I mentioned that adding 'team' to the name was a brilliant idea for the domain name, even though the domain name was chosen because they couldn't get www.treehouse.com, because it gives that feeling that you are part of something - you are part of a team that is learning together.
Anyways, Mike did an excellent job with the logo and I just wanted to add to the conversation. Thoughts?

Matt Kump?
Aesthetically great! Is it meant to be a sapling to represent growth?

And the droplet houses the sapling. I'd love to see a makeshift ladder in there on another version!

If I didn't know the company name, I'd have thought 'Treedrop'. If there's a house hidden in there, I can't see it.

Really nice and tactile. Makes me think Eco, growth, friendly. Not sure if that is good or bad. Good I think. :)

Love the logo Mike. As a user of Think Vitamin Membership, it's great to get a further sneak peak at how Treehouse is coming along. :)
