Logo for the Japan-Switzerland 160th Anniversary

Hey Dribbble family!

I'm here to share a little project of mine that's taken on a life of its own. I participated in a contest to design a logo for the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland and, quite unexpectedly, my submission was selected!

In my design, I tried to blend something symbolic from each nation – Japan's cherry blossom and Switzerland's edelweiss – to capture themes like beauty, love, and resilience that resonate with both cultures. These aren't just flowers; they represent enduring friendship and the strength to keep going.

The logo also integrates elements from both the Japanese and Swiss flags, aiming to reflect how diverse cultural aspects can harmonize. To my surprise, it was chosen by a panel that included some notable figures from the respective embassies and foreign affairs departments, out of 224 entries.

In 2024, this logo will be featured in various activities celebrating this special anniversary. It’s going to be interesting to see it in both color and black-and-white versions across different events.

I’m really grateful for this opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful occasion. It’s a bit overwhelming but exciting to think about how my design might add to the year’s celebrations. I'll definitely keep you all updated on how it’s being used.

Thanks for your support, and here’s to a year highlighting the unique bond between Japan and Switzerland! 🌸🏔️🇯🇵🇨🇭
