Example of a post that would appear on the main page with featured image and a little peek at the main nav (colour-coded categories, still ironing it out).
The title and 'Read More' may need a bit more oomph, but that could just be my opinion after staring at it for hours. Would love some feedback on this one.

On its own it looks great. Subtle but effective contrast between the header and "Read More"
I'm just wondering how the newest post would stand out individually among other posts? With some post literally jumping out attacking you for attention like this example demonstrates, I think that as this post gets older it can become less emphasized some how.
It all depends on the overall layout though so I couldn't say. I like it though!

Yeah, I've been mulling over whether to have a single featured post, then non-featured posts, or to have them all carry equal emphasis, but I think I'll go with the first option now.
There'll be a shot for the non-featured post at some point...once I design it.
