Design doc-ing out loud here: When Mimeo frees one of the Kiddos it will leap off the rope (revealing a hook) and then scamper off the left. If it hits a wall before it can get off screen it will dig into the ground and disappear.
I'm going to break the mold here, Shaun. I don't like either of them. The first version made it seem as he was struggling in a rope binding to break free and not in a soon-to-be-fatal position. If you were to slow the first version down, it would look like a twitching body hanging dead from a rope.
This version makes me think he's going to be dipped in a giant bubbling bath of boiling hot frying oil and if you don't save him in time we'll all be enjoying a crispy, juicy, rabbit-like Kiddo snack.
I enjoyed @Peter's suggestion (from the original shot) to put him in a Super Mario-like cage that is swinging back and forth. In this case I would imagine you would then be able to do two separate sprites (the cage on top of the Kiddo) and allow Kiddo to move around within the swinging cage.
Either way, you're an incredible designer and developer; whatever you end up with will be drool-worthy anyway.

This is great. Subtle, but very effective.

I liked it the other way, myself. But this works perfectly well.

I like it this way. I think it would look really good to slow it down and get the rope to swing back and forth slightly.

My favorite by far! Looks less fatal and more fluffy.
