Messaging Modal UI (B2B)

Improved UI for outbound communication.

Helping users to email and sms customers and staff at the level they are used to in other messaging clients.

The initial problem was that the legacy feature has a clunky email form and controls that didn’t give much real-estate to the message being written. The window was split in two with the left side being arranged for the message and the right hand side being a rudimentary list of files you could attach - which as the list got bigger it made it harder for the user to find the exact file they wanted to attach.

On top of that to send an sms from the product you had to go to a separate form.

This was part of a larger product change initiative. Where we evolved the users ability to create, edit and send emails and sms with the behaviour and interactions you would typically find in major email clients - driving consistency - by combining the ability to sms and email from the same interface.

The modal window can be expanded from the default size to extend the users ability to have more room to write their message. The real technical benefit we added was the ability to link this feature to operational tasks to help create a workflow. See ux case study here
