CASE STUDY: LA CONDENADA, SEATTLE Rebranding · Concept Branding

Client: La Condenada

Industry: Mexican Restaurant

Location: Seattle, WA

The client:

D'la Santa, a renowned and highly-rated Mexican restaurant in Seattle, has gained a reputation for its impeccable service, charming ambiance, and authentic dishes that transport patrons to a genuine Mexican culinary experience. After years of successful operation, the restaurant saw the need for a rebranding that could better reflect its origins, objectives, and rich history.

"La Condenada" required more than just a new logo; it needed a comprehensive brand concept and a strong foundation that could remain recognizable even through the transition from "D'la Santa." The aim was to continue fostering trust among loyal customers, including notable personalities from the entertainment industry, while also attracting newcomers to savor the genuine flavors of rustic Mexican cuisine amidst one of the United States' most important cities.

Our Approach:

We embarked on the task of developing a brand concept that paid homage to the Mexican roots of the restaurant's founders, celebrated Mexican cuisine as a ritualistic and unifying experience, and honored the traditions that underscore each dish prepared at La Condenada.

Our goal was to craft an identity that exuded elegance while seamlessly integrating elements that were familiar to the restaurant's patrons and that set La Condenada apart from the rest - their iconic clay dishes.

In Mexico, the culinary journey begins with the selection of ingredients, the aroma of spices, and the textures that together create one of the world's most ancient and esteemed culinary experiences. Just as these elements are crucial, so too are the plates and utensils, which play an essential role in this gastronomic voyage.

Mexican ceramics date back to pre-Columbian times, encompassing distinctive decorative styles and finishes. At La Condenada, 100% Mexican ceramic vessels are employed, with their unique design and aesthetic leaving a lasting impression on the restaurant's visitors. We drew inspiration from the traditional floral patterns found in Mexican ceramics to create a simple yet memorable icon that patrons could readily associate with La Condenada. This icon was paired with a serif typeface - elegant and refined - to establish a visual identity that aligned seamlessly with the client's new objectives.

Website Design:

Translating the rich brand concept into the digital realm, we approached the website design with the same dedication to authenticity and elegance. The website serves as an extension of the restaurant's physical ambiance, providing an immersive online experience for visitors.

Inspired by the floral motifs of Mexican ceramics, the website's design elements mirror the iconography present in La Condenada's branding.

The color palette, featuring warm earth tones, evokes the rustic charm of traditional Mexican countryside, reinforcing the connection between cuisine and culture.

Navigation was optimized for user-friendliness, ensuring that visitors could easily explore the restaurant's menu offerings, history, and special events. High-quality images showcase the beautifully presented dishes, capturing the essence of the culinary journey that La Condenada offers.

The use of elegant serif typography across the website maintains visual consistency with the brand identity, while also enhancing readability and conveying a sense of refinement.
