X is for close/cancel. It may be a little confusing because people wrongly purpose 'x' in interfaces for deleting.

Assuming that there will be multiple album covers on a grid once implented, I'd suggest letting the delete button slide down instead of the picture going up. Would keep everything aligned all right.

I say transition the arrow into an 'x', or flip the arrow. Otherwise I love this UI.
