Hot damn, dream brief. We were asked to create a look and library-set of 3D icons for use in NewNew's platform refresh. From written concepts all the way through to the final WebP outputs, we loved the process. Nothing like chunky, 3D iconography.

The visuals would end up on NewNew’s website refresh. That means a ton of scaling to cover, and a few unique aspect ratios.

Iconography

The core task was to create a 3D icon-set to represent key features and functionality within the platform. Some would have movement, whilst others were still-frames.

A bi-product of so much tinkering was a ton of output. Most of the iteration was focused on making sure the tone and texture scale ended up consistent throughout the icon-set. Although we tinkered with some abstract finishes, we generally came back to familiar, tactile materials.

Pages

Whilst we built our library of 3D elements, we were also building out transition scenes for hero pages within the platform. Each scene making use of some our hero props and additional balance elements.

Light & Dark

Add to that a light-mode and dark-mode requirement, and our output sheet started to get super heavy.

The Rest

With such a 3D focused look, we also made sure to tackle NewNew’s logo mark for any large branding loops.

User Dashboard

We also executed some creative material for the profile page, building a set of default avatar options should the user not have an image of their own.

And lastly, some looping gradient backgrounds for the profile dashboard, making sure that the placeholder content had some colour and movement before the user decides on their banner image of choice.
