Hermeus | Darkhorse Visual Identity

As part of a staged development roadmap, Hermeus will create three unique aircraft – each requiring a distinct yet complementary identity. The second of these three is Darkhorse, a hypersonic UAS (uncrewed aerial system) designed for defense and intelligence customers.

Like the moniker it flies by, Darkhorse embodies the underdog spirit of an unknown competitor. Offering sustained hypersonic flight, Darkhorse represents a major technological leap and capabilities no other aircraft can rival.

Similar to Quarterhorse, our intent for Darkhorse was for the visual identity to express the qualities and purpose of the aircraft itself.

As a larger vehicle, the icon was given a more imposing and stoic posture while the wordmark was set in upright text with a much bolder weight. So while Quarterhorse was meant to exude speed, Darkhorse is all about strength.
