Spent a very large part of the day exploring different alternatives to Mario's signature green pipe. I tried stone wells, concrete pipes, copycat pipes, and hollowed out tree stumps before settling on HVAC ductwork. Tillable equals very yes.
Then I realized my game doesn't have a down button.
Shaun, does it have to be a pipe? How closely are you gonna stick to the Mario series?
Also, might I recommend a Meerschaum Calabash pipe instead if you are gonna go with a pipe. It's very sherlock holmes and we all know sherlock holmes is the bomb.
Also, Meerschaum pipes would work with a right and left button.
Dan just won armchairgamedesigner. Of course, it was so poorly designed that when your score hit 1,000,000,000 it rolled back over to 0. But I know you won :)
That's brilliant. I'm all about keeping the button count down.
Upon further consideration that would actually make hidden areas easier to find since you could accidentally run into any pipe that went somewhere. But I like your thinking.

I think you should go with an 8-bit toilet.

I think you mean 8-bit Fountain.

If the 8-bit toilet contains a bidet, then I concur.

Digging the conduit banding. And who needs a down button? Have the conduit hang from the ceiling or lay flat (Mimeo could crawl inside it).

Some may call that a feature :)
Maybe a reaction to wanting those hours of my life back spent hitting the down arrow while atop every damn pipe in SMB.

I love the banding as well. And Dan's solution seems like a good one assuming you're not hinging any of the level design on pipes in the ground.
