I love this, primarily because I think it's pretty. Great visual style (even though I agree with Louis about the edges)
However, the metaphor seems a little strange. It feels like you're mixing radar with a compass needle, using the the needles almost like a sweeping line of a radar.

@Mikael Eidenberg I tried using the pattern on the ocean but it reduced the cleanliness of the icon.
@Josh Bryant Actually, I am either going to use the radar or the needle, while keeping the background same.The combination of two was just an experiment.
