Minimal State Flags

While road tripping across the country, I spotted the classic Colorado state flag and fell in love with how simple it was. I looked up some other state flags and some are pretty atrocious. I wanted to see what each state flag could potentially look when applying the same visual language as CO, i.e. color blocking, geometric shapes, stripes, and the state letter. These flags aren’t randomly/aesthetically designed. I wanted to keep the original integrity of each flag but strip it down to the most bare essentials. I took some liberties with color.
