This one's been lying around for a looooong time, a simple but nice UI design for WindowBlinds I'm thinking about finishing and turn into a working skin. Having trouble nailing the taskbar buttons and a few other UI elements though.
These buttons are insanely shiny. It's almost like you're using Smarties to build you UI!
Generally, I would go with less contrast, to balance the 3D effect of the controls, so the left-most version is my pick. On hover, the icons (not the whole button) could adopt a contrasty colour, ie. the colours you're already using. I'd also make sure that the icons are not too blurry ;-)
The far left buttons are the inactive/default state actually, the others hovered and pressed states. I want the inactive window (that you see behind the main window) to be completely transparent, so perhaps they should get a transparent set of buttons too, instead of those solid ones. I can see what you mean by sharper glyphs for the buttons though. Some more to work on. :)
