Coffee place mural

Back in 2021 a friend asked me if I wanted to do a mural for their new place (which will open very soon). I said yes instantly. Then I saw the size of the wall and anxiety started creeping in. 😂 It was my first mural and the wall was 4.6m tall and 3m wide. 😳

However, when facing a complex project I learned it's best to always break it into smaller, more manageable steps. First, I created the sketch, which I approved with the client. Then I added in the colors and created the final digital version.

Then came the difficult part. Using a projector I transferred the sketch to the wall. Then, starting from the top, I began painting the wall, level by level.

I'm not gonna lie, it was tough, but seeing my work up there made me feel proud. Each day I went in feeling super energized and overestimating the progress for that day. 😅 I spent, in average, around 12 hours / day at the coffee shop painting that wall. 7 days later it was done and I couldn't believe I was able to reproduce the illustration at such a large scale.

The feeling when the scaffolding came off and I was able to see the illustration for the first time was amazing. Now, sitting at my desk and working at the computer seems dull and I can't wait to work on my next mural :)
