Morgan,
The normal states should be simply gray-blue and using alpha to give depth. in addition, there is a white drop shadow applied to the icon.
The selected states are white (with alpha) and have a blue drop shadow applied to the icon.
@Louie where can one learn more about this normal states and white drops and alpha bizness, assuming this is some app type talk? i'm curious to know more... tks.
When you export the icon to the project, it should be like this: http://idzr.org/kvy7 Plain black template. Whatever you want to appear as a lighter colour, you leave transparent. The system will draw the styles onto it. That is for the normal state anyway.

Do you make the icons in Fireworks?

Hope you've got 32px versions too for the system's larger sidebar text option. ;P

Aw, these are so teeny and cute and crispy-licious. Well done.

I said it before, you're using white along with the gray-blue. These look nice, but they don't look consistent with the system.

Louie, is that imperative? White is used in the active states, right?
Nonetheless, they're beautiful, Ben.
